# Connection Setup

**SafeSave is a Visual Interface.** It requires your project to be connected to a Source Control system to function.

> **⚠️ Important:** If SafeSave says "Offline" (Grey), follow these steps.

1. Look at the bottom-right corner of the Unreal Editor.
2. Click **Source Control: Off**.
3. Select **Connect to Source Control**.
4. Select your Provider (Git, Perforce, etc.) from the dropdown.
5. **Git Users:** Ensure your "Git Path" points to git.exe correctly.
6. Click **Accept Settings**.

Once the **Green Dot** appears in the bottom right connection bar, the SafeSave Traffic Light will appear in your main toolbar.
